Working privately vs NHS

I have worked for years in the NHS, so working independently is a very different. The positives of offering therapy based on what a child needs is fantastic and I love being able to be flexible to work with families or schools in the best way (I am happy to do therapy sessions at the beach!).

My aim is to create NHS standards, with independent flexibility and innovation. I am excited to develop this service.

Some of the ways that I aim to use best practice are:

  • Wherever the local NHS service can offer the same service, I will let parents know this option

  • I regularly partake in clinical learning, including attending training and conferences

  • I maintain clinical governance, including storing information securely, DBS checking and maintaining child safeguarding knowledge

  • Working with others where possible, such as liaising with NHS SLTs to coordinate input and timing.
